Questo tour svizzero ci ha portato sulle sponde del Reno all’Amber Bar’ (Kasernenhof al civico 6), all’interno della torre sud di una caserma del centro di Basilea.
L’Amber Bar è considerata una delle location più suggestive della città grazie alla sua bellissima terrazza sul tetto, mentre il piano sottostante regala stupendi affacci attraverso due grandi finestre sui lati che guardano il fiume ed il centro storico.
La parte interna dell’Amber è caratterizzata da un lunghissimo bancone con sgabelli da un lato e tavolini con sedie o poltroncine di design dall’altro, a ricreare una specie di salottino ed un mood drink&conversation rilassato anche grazie alla luce soffusa ed una carta da parati alle pareti dai colori scuri ed in generale toni caldi.
Ci accomodiamo al bancone ovviamente, dove veniamo accolti dal sorriso e la gentilezza della bartender Isabel, dopo aver incontrato Ramon e Cecile che ci ha dato la possibilità di vivere quest’altra experience a Basilea. Diamo subito uno sguardo alla drink list con alcuni cocktail riportati anche su una parete, una specie di lavagnetta con i nomi dorati in rilievo, un tocco moderno e di design che ben si inserisce nel look generale della sala. Dal menù optiamo per un ‘Rosa Negroni’ (Tanqueray gin, Select aperitivo e Cocchi rosa) dai sentori floreali, speziati e agrumati in un equilibrio perfetto, mentre dalla lavagnetta ci colpisce l’Amber Gimlet’ (a base di vodka, litchi e lime), esplosione di freschezza leggermente dolce. E’ stata un’esperienza molto positiva con una vista incredibile, anche se non abbiamo potuto goderne dalla terrazza non siamo rimasti delusi! Grazie ancora a Isabel, Ramon, tutto lo staff dell’Amber e soprattutto a Cecile per il calore ricevuto nel nostro momento in loro presenza…

This Swiss tour took us to the banks of the Rhine at the Amber Bar (Kasernenhof 6), inside the south tower of a barracks in the center of Basel.
The Amber Bar is considered one of the most evocative locations in the city thanks to its beautiful rooftop terrace, while the floor below offers stunning views through two large windows on the sides overlooking the river and the historic center.
The interior of Amber features a very long counter with stools on one side and tables with designer chairs or armchairs on the other, creating a sort of lounge and a relaxed drink-and-conversation atmosphere, further enhanced by the soft lighting and dark-colored wallpaper and overall warm tones.
We naturally sit at the counter, where we are greeted by the smile and kindness of bartender Isabel, after meeting Ramon and Cecile who gave us the opportunity to live this other experience in Basel.
Let’s immediately take a look at the drink list with some cocktails also listed on a wall, a sort of blackboard with the names in gold relief, a modern and design touch that fits well into the general look of the room.
From the menu, we opted for a Rosa Negroni (Tanqueray gin, Select aperitivo, and Cocchi rosa) with perfectly balanced floral, spicy, and citrus notes. From the blackboard, we were struck by the Amber Gimlet (vodka, lychee, and lime), a burst of slightly sweet freshness. It was a truly positive experience with an incredible view; even though we couldn’t enjoy it from the terrace, we weren’t disappointed! Thanks again to Isabel, Ramon, the entire Amber staff, and especially Cecile for the warmth we received during our time with them…
